Akello Loy, a the mother of four children, lives in Ogweto Village
in the Amuria district of Uganda. She suffered paralysis and a fistula while giving birth to her fourth child. Oregon State students and faculty are working with TERREWODE to learn from and to empower women like Loy.

McKinsey Starguard, a homesteader in Spray, Oregon, makes goat milk soap in her kitchen. Starguard's recipe and bars of soap were gifted to the TERREWODE women and inspired the soap-making project.
