Lamprey Has Star Power at da Vinci Days

The “Forgotten Fish,” an ancient (and threatened) species native to Oregon’s rivers, found many new supporters among the hundreds who enjoyed da Vinci Days in July.

The Forgotten Fish — the Pacific lamprey — drew a crowd at da Vinci Days in Corvallis in July. Terra partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and with the “lamprey posse,” a team of Oregon State researchers in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, to explain the life cycle of these ancient animals. Lamprey are declining throughout their range.
